Kourtney turned 27 on Wednesday, August 13th. We celebrated with Velocity in the park and then met friends at Ghengis Grill after church for dinner. We had a blast!

A Visit From Far Away Friends

Our friends, Brandon and Wendi Grayson, stopped by ABQ while taking their youth group from Horizon Indianapolis on a summer mission trip. They were back from Gallup, New Mexico and headed back to Indy. We got to hang out with them for a few hours and grab some Dion's pizza. It was also nice to see Kelsie Ellingwood from our very own Calvary Chapel Crawfordsville. It's always refreshing to see friends from home and know that soon we'll be there too!

It gets me through the day.

Sonic.....what would I do without you? Unfortunately since UNM has proved as equally dissappointing as my last job, I'm left in an intense gaze at the clock all afternoon long. BUT, alas, there is a Sonic just few short steps away. At least with this job I can take a break and frequent it in the loooooooooooong afternoons. It was an extra special Sonic afternoon today because my co-worker's wife suprised us with chocolate shakes! Not only was it delish, but it was free (one of my favorite ways to get things in life)! The one and only problem that this produces is the fact that I now have no excuse to get out of here for 15 minutes this afternoon. Bummer.

Upcoming Visits

We have a busy schedule coming up!

July 21st - 24th: Uly and Toni (founders of Christian Skaters) will be staying in ABQ to help get the Calvary Skate Park's new pro-shop set up. They are from Ft. Lauderdale, FL and minister at Bob Coy's church. They will be staying at our house for the week. Full House!

July 24th - 28th: Denver, Colorado trip. (24th - Matt's B-day, 27th Our Anniversary)

August 28th - September 1st: Curly and Don (Kourtney's parents) come to visit for Kourtney's graduation from Shepherd's School on August 29th. Yay!

September: My mom hopefully will come out to visit!

October 2nd - 8th: Mimi (Faith's G'ma) flies in for a few days to visit and see the Balloon Fiesta. Connor, Faith's cousin, will also be staying with us for part of the weekend while his parents are attending a marriage conference in Glorietta, NM.

I'm looking forward to all of these and I'm sure things will fill up even more!

Our house is definitely bustling with activity now that Matt and Bethany have arrived. The house is filling up with things. I think the loud echoing throughout the house has finally disappeared. Thank goodness! Having a nice, clean house make life so much easier for me. One of my favorite things to do is search Craigslist for furniture steals. I have found some of the coolest things. We no longer have the ghetto TV set up (see previous post). Our friends, Nate and Ariel's (brother and sister) parents gave us their "old" TV. It may not be the modern LCD TV, but it's a really nice Sony 32" TV with a nice stand and DVD/VCR player. Now we can watch Everybody Loves Raymond in comfort and style! I was watching the news last night (i bought an antenna at Big Lots for $2.99) and it felt like I hadn't seen a commercial in years! It felt so weird. Everything in our bedroom is from Craigslist or Freecycle and it's so cool how everything I found matched perfectly! The colors and furniture aren't what I would necessarily pick if I could afford Pottery Barn, but it works for now! I felt a little jealous after Kourtney bought his iphone last week, so I retaliated and bought some things from World Market (another favorite store). I bought a rug for the living room, 2 banana leaf chairs for our dining room table and some throw pillows for the couches. After I lugged all of it home, I got convicted and took everything back except the chairs. I needed those to have enough seating for when Matt and Bethany came. My friend Hayley is moving back to Indiana this summer so she is letting us borrow some of her furniture and bring it back with us when we move next spring. Matt and Bethany have a nice, wood, 4 poster bed from her and we are using her dresser in our room and her end tables throughout the house. It's coming together so nicely!

A Prime Example

Today, just two days into my new approach with my time with the Lord, He asked me to put the things He wants to teach me into practice. It was so interesting because I was consciously aware of what was going on! A friend called with some news that was exciting, yet made me a little jealous. This news concerns the very things that I want and I find the hardest to trust the Lord and His timing with. I think of all of the little details on why this or that won't work out in my life because of my circumstances. When I was allowing myself to sink into a depressive state and telling myself "of course that would happen to them, because they are living the life that I want and can't have," the Lord reminded me of the area in my life that He is working on right now. This area is trust and because of my nature, do I have a lot to entrust to Him! I have so many worries and doubts about the future and I knew right away that this area was where I needed to start allowing Him to work first. Very interesting how things are happening....
